Microsoft and HP will each sell a total of $1 billion in software, the companies announced Wednesday.

Microsoft will sell its Surface line of tablet PCs and the HP Pavilion XR8 smartphone for $5,000 each.

The software will be available through Microsoft’s cloud services.

The deals were announced as the company released its fiscal fourth-quarter financial results for the first time in more than a year.

Microsoft is on track to beat analysts’ expectations for a $5.1 billion revenue increase for the quarter.

HP is set to post a loss of $2.3 billion, according to an estimate by Thomson Reuters.

The news comes after Microsoft announced a deal to buy rival Nokia for $7.5 billion.
